Bougainville was originally released in 2003 as a four font family without italics. Due to its popularity the family was extended to eight weights and italics added making a total of 16 in the family. The original typeface family was named in honor of the renowned eighteen-century French mathematician and explorer Louis-Antoine de Bougainville to whom we owe the naming of South Sea Islands and colorful tropical flora he discovered along his journey. Bougainville Neo makes for effective headings at any size and is equally readable at semi-display sizes.
Glyph sets are Opentype LatPro encoded to accommodate around 90 latin-based languages.
